Administrator's Manual, Awards, and Updating the Training Manual
Things have been rather quiet on the blog but behind the scenes, Collaborative members have been hard at work!
Plinkit Administrator's Manual
I'm pleased to announce that the Plinkit
Administrator's Manual has been completed! Everyone did a great job of reviewing
almost weekly drafts, providing input, and working together to meet deadlines.
Everyone should be very pleased with the quality
of the manual and I'm confident that it
will be an invaluable tool as we move forward with the
Collaborative. (Collaborative members can log in and download their copy at will).
Award of Excellence
Toni Mantych (Technical Writer) entered
the original version of the "Plinkit Training Manual for Oregon Library Plinkit
Web Site Editors" in a competition hosted by the Society of Technical
Communications, Intermountain Chapter (located in Utah). The training manual received the "Excellence" rating -- the second highest award level -- which
means it "consistently meets high standards in all areas. The entry might
contain a single major flaw or a few minor flaws. The entry clearly (if slightly
imperfectly) demonstrates an exceptional understanding of technical
communication principles." Congratulations, Toni!
Plinkit Training Manual to be Updated
Based on extensive feedback provided by Jerry McCully (Texas) and with additional feedback from other Collaborative members, we are having Toni Mantych update the original training manual. In addition to making sure what was originally developed for just Oregon is expanded to be applicable to any member state/region, updates will also cover the new features of the latest version of Kupu, the WYSIWYG editor that ships with Plone. The new Plinkit Training Manual will be ready by late March.
