Technical Group Minutes January 16, 2008

Plinkit Tech Group Meeting - Wed Jan 16, 2008
---------------------------------------------

Minutes

Present:
Steve Gregory - Colorado
Darci Hanning - Oregon
Holly Gordon - Texas
Sharon Morris - Colorado
Bev Obert - Illinois

Status Reports
--------------
Colorado:
 - Upgraded kupu editor to v1.4.7 yesterday.  Some issues were observed (colors changed, undo gone, spellchecking not present).  Will inquire of Plone community.
Oregon:
 - Plunking along.
 - All RSS feeds created from ODP pages no longer work (they were based on a web service that is no longer responding). In the default Plinkit site, this is 5-7 Espanol feeds and one Kids/Teen feed. Darci is investigating alternative web services to re-create those feeds (e.g. Dapper, Yahoo Pipes). Sharon commented that nothing from ODP is used in Colorado and has found alternate feeds.
ACTION -> Please send Darci a list of addition and/or more appropriate rss feeds that your states are using
 - 3-4 more libs to get configured & trained.  No more before June 1
 - Current total: 36 libs - about a fourth of public libs in Oregon
Texas:
 - Holding pattern - no access to test box
 - IBM (keeper of our server) wants to switch back to Red Hat
 - Has added 2 more sites since December
Illinois:
 - Ryan has a new job but can still do some plinkit work on contract
 - New content is available on plinkit.org site
 - Target: 120 libs online by end of June
 - Illinois has produced some how-to videos
